You'll have 48 hours to vote with the poll closing at 8:00pm EST on Wednesday - majority wins. As always, we keep the current rule if there's a tie.
If 'yes' wins, here is the system I'm envisioning:
- For an official vote to be called regarding a trade veto - 5 separate managers must PM (or email) me within 24 hours of the trade being posted asking for a veto. Please try to keep the soliciting and public outcry to a minimum during this phase so as to not influence other managers - you'll have your chance in the veto poll comments to explain your position one way or the other.
- If I receive the 5 required PMs, I will put up a simple 24 hour yes/no vote to allow the trade or not. 12 "no" votes are required within 24 hours of the poll being posted for the trade to be vetoed. I will also send an email to the league immediately after posting the poll.

Absolutely not necessary. I play in many deep and successful dynasty leagues and all of them are running perfectly fine with the League Office (usually 1 Commish and 2 co-commishes) making the calls on vetos.
This league is also running perfectly fine with the current veto system. The proposed system is going to require 12 votes for a veto so all but the most unbalanced trades will end up going through anyway.
Further, every trade should be accompanied with a blurb on why the manager made the trade.

I will not vote for a veto system. In my opinion it distracts from actual baseball discussion as we all get defensive about how we value players.
I would vote for a discussion system that puts questionable trades on hold and allows a period of discussion in which managers involved in the trade are allowed a chance to explain the trade. The commissioner then can make a decision based on a civilized baseball discussion and precedent set in the league.
I am a little bit on the fence but voted no. I am fairly new to the league but it seems like we have a good group of owners. I think that the commish and his assistant can manage this or do something like Dan(Seattle) suggests.

Veto System?Feb 16, 2015 21:59:34 GMT -5via mobile
I think the current system is sufficient. Having a veto system when there's no collusion just feels like a constant referendum on everyone's management. Unless it's very clear cut, there isn't only one way to run a fantasy team the last I checked.

The current rules state that the commissioner & Co. can review a trade if a large number of owners disagree with it. I think that is sufficient. It means we can voice concerns but we'll let him decide.

That's the way it sounds, but not how it actually is. The commish and Co. can only veto if they get complaints of possible collusion or incompetence.
I say no also this has been a train wreak off season this kinda just put it over the top. but it seems like as others have said that we have guys involved and will make the league strong and long lasting, the fact we have 16 guys already answering the poll is a very possitive thing. even all the new guys we have getting involved already is great to see

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
