So I am officially offering the following package to any manager that would be willing to assume the Braves franchise. These terms aren't negotiable and are final once agreed upon (i.e. you cannot ask for more perks later on). This is despite the fact that you're doing the league a huge favor and that I will be very grateful - this is the only way it works.
Here are the bonuses: -The #1 overall pick + the #1 pick in the second round of the 2016 prospect draft (both comp. picks). -3 free contract buyout drops -The ability to add any 5 unowned prospects of your choice effective immediately.
This will leave the franchise with ~$35 in cap space to trade.
The first manager to respond to this thread gets the team (with their old team to be filled from outside).
If I can get McMahon and Quinn (Honestly not even top 100 prospects I just like them which is why I drafted/traded for them)and the option to grab Burnett, Colon, Qualls, Tazawa (All of which I signed for $1/1yr for my team, which I did not expect to give up but am willing to in order to be able to get a manager) in addition to the bonuses above (I'll count McMahon and Quinn as 2 of my 5 unowned prospect additions). A top 10 team with Bogaerts and Rodon shouldn't be too difficult to find an owner for. Also, I would want the Marlins name change
I understand you said "These terms aren't negotiable", but from what I've seen and as one of the newest managers, I dont have the same type of commitment to my team as I am sure you guys do, so I am probably the only one willing to try the impossible and bring the Braves/Marlins back to relevance.

Well, here's the thing with that. The Angels franchise is already a borderline top 12-15 team before taking those players (just my opinion of course FWIW). You take Burnett and Colon and the SPs on that team are Alfredo Simon and Tim Hudson. Total.. Oh and Jarrod Parker maybe in June. And every single starting offensive player, save 2, is over 30 (much over in a lot of cases like beltran, Rios, Holliday, Pagan, etc). And asdrubal is 30 this fall. Sure you have Bogaerts, I"m not taking that away. But that's one piece. Rodon is a nice prospect, but not really any higher rated than Zimmmer who is already on the Braves anyways.
I would much rather take the braves franchise with $40 in cap space and the #1 overall pick to deal (plus Anderson and Rogers and 3 other prospects), then i would take the oldest franchise in the league with no cap space.
I don't mean to rag on your franchise, since you're brand new and the previous Angels owner was as much of a train wreck as the previous Braves owner. I think you've done a good job turning it around, i really do. But if i post that roster on a message board like I posted the Braves, I'm going to get the same crickets chirping regardless..

OK I get that. I do think its easier finding taker for a team in win now mode, and I would be open to trading with the new owner to pick up one of the OF. I What if I took just Burnett and my relievers? Also, Bogaerts and Rodon will help this year, which is a big plus for impact prospects. I say go ahead and post the Angels as available (minus Burnett, McMahon, and Quinn) and see which gets a taker first. If there's no takers, then we just let the Braves rot for a year. If someone takes one of them, I'll take the other. That way, best case scenario, a new owner gets to choose the team they want (likely the Angels) and worst case scenario we are in the same situation as we are in now, with an ownerless team.

The Angels aren't in 'win now' mode IMO. A team with a total starting staff of Bartolo Colon Tim Hudson and Alfredo Simon is a rebuilding team.
And I don't think the franchise will be any easier to fill than the Braves even with Burnett. Incoming manager look for young players the same way all of us internal guys do.
At the least Braves has two good picks and $40 to trade. (Didn't Cueto basically just get dealt for around a third of that?)
I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to stick to my original offer package if anyone is interested and continue to try and recruit for as long as it takes. I really do appreciate the offer and discussion though.

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
