I understand buy outs I am responsible for 1/2 of the contract, $2 / 1yr ; my part is $1. On waivers I am responsible for the entire contract. But if I buy a player out, aren't essentially waved too?

So, with buyouts you totally get rid of the player (for 1/2 the total remaining salary)
Waivers, you still own the player's rights - it's just a way to open a roster spot. They count fully against the cap but not against your roster. And there's the chance someone else will claim them. If you'd like, you can buyout players from waivers as well anytime you want.
Waivers makes a lot of sense when it's a player with multi-year deal that you dont want to get stuck with a huge buyout. For example, if you have a $10/3year player and buy him out, you lose $15 right then and there. ($30 / 2). But if you place him on waivers, he only counts the $10 for this season. And there's the chance someone will want to claim him. If he stays on waivers the whole year, you still have his rights next season, but he's $10/2 years.
Also, don't forget that as a new owner you have 1 free buyout where we just remove a player from your roster free of charge. you aren't responsible for any cap hit or buyout hit with this one player.

I am using my One Free New Manager Buy Out for Pedro Alvarez, $9 / 2YR. I posted it under Buy Outs as the rules say. Hopefully I did everything correctly.
It's immediate. Seth said in the discussion box that he lost Internet and would have to catch up. Don't worry it will get done. It's recommended to have your own personal roster do you can keep track of your moves and roster in case it gets delayed

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
