We need to discuss and setup a clear buyout period. Last season the buyout period was stopped shortly after the trade deadline. I would like to start a discussion then vote.
I like the idea of buyouts happening around September 10th. This gives enough time for September call ups to happen for managers to see if they have a rookie coming up for the next year but forces managers to think ahead and buyout players before the end of the season to save the cap.

^ I agree with Dan. 2nd Sunday in september seems like a good cut off. End of a fantasy week and gives us a couple days of September call ups, but not like 2 years ago when everyone was dumping their 2 year contracts on the last day of the season to save $
I would say a little earlier than that. It should have to be a tough decision. If the deadline is September 10, any smart owner will dump any questionable contract with limited consequences.

What is wrong with letting engaged owners dump bad contracts? The only problem is that playoff teams might pick up a free agent, but closing free agency with September call ups fixes that. With the turnover this league has had I don't see the point in regulating it to make it hard to adjust our teams. Baseball is a fickle sport. Even major league teams make bad contracts and let people go. We can't raise ticket prices to make up for lost value so the buyout is the only way we can create some flexibility. Personally, I'd like to see buyouts throughout the whole year as it is the only way to adjust a team after a bad contract.
I agree with the Mariners...I had a lot of cap space at the end of last year to do some buy outs but when I went to do them, I found out there was a deadline that had just passed...

Buyouts should be allowed at any time. Dynasty leagues are all about flexibility, creating deadlines just for the sake of creating a deadline is not the answer.

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
