Am I the only one who thinks the rules are fine the way they are?
Yes, I have a big roster, but I cut to 25 players yearly (per the rules). Remaining players (after I increase my roster) are able to be claimed. Essentially, i demote them to AAA and other teams can pluck them (similar to how a lot of MLB teams do-without the ability to pluck off the roster).
The cost of controlling my excess players hinders my ability to spend on other players (free agent, waiver claim).
If we decrease roster size, the only difference is money shifted from many small contracts to less contracts at a higher amount. The top tier players at a small contract will (further) improve their value.

I don’t like the whole having 45 players on a team’s payroll and then seeing a never ending swap of waiver transactions and trade block updates where managers (not just you) try to TRADE their waived players
I’m for roster flexibility and see value in having a very limited amount of players on waivers but the current rule is a problem and some managers are exploiting it

I agree when most of our free agents are actually on permanent waivers, it gets old having to check a spreadsheet and yahoo to see who is really available.

TB - that makes sense. I don't know if it's possible to expand our roster to 50 active and 20 'minor league' - which would clean up that issue. Otherwise you'll have to look regardless (as there'll always be the few on top that are minors not brought up).
Cubs - I see your point, and know we've discussed this previously. My problem is that I see too many 'shinny new players' and 'he got 3 hits yesterday, gotta get him' that my spending habits are (at times) off the wall/ridiculous.
I don't know what the answer is, and i know a few owners are unhappy about the current system. If we put any limits, then there's the DL/NA players that'll bog up the system, but then no one checks when a player comes off NA/DL (multiple times with multiple teams).

Fantrax... fantrax... fantrax... solves all minors issues. Then it would just be a handful of waived guys. And if we go with the rule if not claimed after 48 hours they are cut and you pay the penalty thst solves thst too.
I'm not a big Fantrax guy... I think the way we do Minors is fine as is. If we clean up this waivers issue, that should help make the Minors searching easy
What is the problem with Fantrax. I am in two Dynasty leagues on Fantrax and it runs very smoothly with your full team active, reserve, minors all on one page, Just wondering what you think some of the problems are?

Yahoo just needs to get with the picture and create minor league rosters. I’m sure that had to be the most requested change for the last 5 years or longer

Yea. Honestly I love their interface but it's so limited, minors, 30 team leagues...etc. It's why Fantrax was born.

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
