1. Keep the waiver process the same as it has been, unlimited players, can pull back and put on waivers anytime.
2. A limit of 3 players on waivers at a time on a roster. You still have to have a 25 man roster, but you can have a maximum of 3 waived players. When a player comes off DL, you can waive a player, but if you already have 3 then you need to buy someone out. If you waive a 4th player (accidentally or on purpose), the first player you waived would be automatically bought out. We may also need to have an additional $1 penalty for waiving a 4th player to de-incentivize trying to get away with it.
3. More of a realistic MLB waiver process. If you waive a player, then managers have 48 hours to put in a claim or there is a mandatory buyout. When waiving a player, you must ensure that you have enough money to afford a buyout.
If the rule is changed, it will take effect Feb 20th. This would be a point where everyone is at 25 players.

I think if there is a change than we made need another option of paying for waived players. like to pay half the players salary or something for the remainder of the contract. Most likely we will have people that have a roster crunch and a money crunch.

If the player is not claimed he has to be bought out - that's my understanding. If the manager doesn't have the money to buyout the player then can't place him on waivers. Or we could have revocable waivers which works as well - like a manager wants to test the waters. I like thiscreates other problems

There is so much money available right now that if you are in a money and roster crunch it is your own doing. plus there are multiple teams willing to pay for picks, willing to take bad contracts, etc. for the teams that are getting close to their cap.
Waiver vote is 8/6/2. I voted for the 3 man limit (6), but am willing to do the 48 hour then buyout rule to pass that across. Only 2 ppl wanted it to remain the same

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.

Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
