Since the new waiver rule was voted in (with forced buyout) it will create a dead area for rosters once Aug 31st buyout deadline happens, no waivers can be allowed after that date. I am not sure everyone was paying attention to our existing Rules & Important dates. In hindsite this rule will make roster management interesting. No we will not have a vote changing buyout deadline. It was painful and needed to force teams not to be dumping players up until the end of the season.

I would love a revote on this now that everyone knows the full consequences of this change. I don’t think it was apparent the first time around how much this would change things for the worse.

I think its gonna be bad too. Either way we have a bad choice here. Go with this rule and suffer late in the season and probably change the rule again or do a re-vote. I still think this rule is an improvement over last year, but I think the 3 player max was the way to go. I'd be open to whatever, though
I think we could since the season hasn't started yet. Your second line is unfair, I think the best thing is to have the best rule going forward. If this is what we agree is best, so be it.

My second line isn't unfair. Its something you disagree with. Just like I disagree that we should not have changed the rule in the first place (clearly the league didn't agree with me).
Since everyone loves votes, lets take it to another vote (or do we vote, to see who wants to vote, about voting in the first place?) (yes, this is sarcasm).
I agree that we should have the best rules going forward, but once a rule is voted on (by the majority) why is there even a discussion on changing it the very same off season? That's why I put both 'your side didn't win' and 'voting public was unaware of...' - as both are reasons people would want to change the rule (again).

I tried to point out the problems with the proposed (now current) rule and I was surprised that the majority of the league still voted for it...but they did
Now we CANNOT change the rule as several managers (including me) have made roster moves to bring the roster to 25 players. I wouldn’t have traded away or released a lot of the depth if I wasn’t stuck in this rule change and trying to avoid buyouts. The rule can’t change again this year...it sucks, but maybe the league learns a lesson here

See above. Buyout deadline will lead to end of waivers as well and, for the most part, free agency. There will be a dead period after this date where no team will be able to make a roster move during the home stretch of the season
It's a 1 month dead period not 2 (Aug 31st correct?) and every league has deadlines for trades waivers and buyouts. Nothing new here You already have 5 months of roto baseball and thb you can make a case there's no need for any deadlines since we don't have playoffs.

I'm not seeing the big deal either here. The only thing this ends is the last couple weeks of streaming waiver players to fill gaps. Plan ahead. It doesnt stop you from signing someone if you get a guy on the DL late in the year. Just means you will be stuck with your other guy on the DL for the last 2 or 3 weeks of the season and lets be honest, most guys hitting the DL that late in the year arent coming back. Its 29 days you have to be without streaming... Its not like this is a H2H league where we are talking 4 weekly matchups being affected. In Roto you arent going to see a HUGE jump in the standings that late in the year.

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
