wait a minute guys.....we need some Covid related rules here to cover players that opt out. I don't think it would be fair to the managers here if a player opts out because of covid and needs to be released or put on the IL or NA.
The guys who opt out will still count towards salary. You can stash them on IL or NA, but their contracts will roll as normal. Gonna be a weird year, but don’t wanna make too many exceptions and make things more difficult for everyone (saying this as the guy who lost my highest priced player and one of my top SP to covid on a 1 year deal)

It's fine.
Most likely I will do it in my league, I'm proposing players on expiring contracts who opt out can be extended by 1 year at the same contract. I think that would be fair.

yea to me guys on a 1 year deal that opt out should receive special consideration for an extra year.. would suck to lose someone because of Covid and them just choosing not to play

But there what would happen in real life. If Mookie chose not to play LAD would still have to pay him and he’d never play a game

I think each team should have the option of extending one player for 2021 at the same rate as 2020 to help smooth out the lost year from Covid. This one player rule would even out since every team can add anyone regardless of whether player missed the season or not. Of course, the player would need to be named after the trade deadline and before the 2020 season ends.
Of course, this is just my opinion, but I would like to have a vote of some kind about extending players for 1 year at same price of 2020.

I would disagree with Cardinals, Rays and Mets. The contract is still pertaining to 2020 regardless of the players choice. In baseball terms it doesn't matter why they're not playing, it's the fact that the season goes on. This from the guy who has the least money and (guessing) the most double digit contracts.
If a player decides to hold out for a better contract do we roll the contract, no. Same thing here. If he sits out he doesn't get paid and loses a year

Exactly he sits out and doesnt get paid.. but in here we are saying you have to pay them and too bad so sad you lost that money and the player. just seems kinda short sighted... but whatever it is it is..

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
