Anyone interesting in setting a $ amount per team for 2021 at around $145 to $150. The 2020 season may be very static based on the environment everyone is playing in.
While it is understood that the whole goal of the cap is to avoid tanking and place an incentive on wining but for one year a set cap for everyone would soften the blow of not having players advance from rookie pages on to MLB pages, players missing time due to covid, and just the shitty 60-game schedule.
Just an idea.

One more thought I had about 2021 salary cap that could be used to even things out after a turbulent 2020 season.
Allow teams to transfer $15 of their cash (many of us have excess dollars) from 2020 to 2021 cap and let the standings still apply to cap.
Teams that don't have $15 dollars to move (hell, maybe even make it $10) can acquire capital via trade of a prospect or draft pick or trade a player for a prospect/draft pick to free up cash.

-2021 cap at 145-150: I disagree because a season is a season. A player isn't going to cost less because of a shortened season. -One year fixed cap: Teams strategize around their cap. I (yup, sounds arrogant) plan on a 158 Cap and fluctuate my roster accordingly. It would hurt my team to have to adjust to that. -Transfer cash to 2021: I disagree. If you'd like to do that, find a trade partner (I'm okay discussing that with you in a private message, depending on the offer). -Transfer via prospect, pick, trade: Same as cash to 2021, find a trade partner (again, I'm okay to discuss if you'd like).

I don’t have a preference to anything, would love to see votes taken on possible changes by the league. Rather than lost yes or no let’s get a vote over at some point. Seems there is a wide gap on recommending a change as a league member and having a vote on recommended change.

I think again ignoring and acting like this season is "real" is short sighted for any dynasty league. Just saying a season is a season is kind of dumb. If we get 10 games in is that a season? Hell no... thats an appetizer. am I happy we are gonna get some baseball, absolutely. But in a league that bases EVERYTHING on your standings the previous year, to hedge it all on a season thats 40% of what we normally get. With a normal season, a 10 or 15 day DL stint you might lose 11-12 games from your guys, maybe based on days off. With this condensed schedule, you will miss 13-15 for a 15 day DL stint cause the teams have fewer days off. Fewer days off will probably lead to more guys missing time due to fatigue etc. Again, thats additional stats you lose for the same type of injury. Also longer type injuries this season will basically be season ending cause its a 45 day DL now (i think ) instead of the 60. At least a 60 day DL stint in April, you knew you had a chance your guy would be back in July. if it happens in August this year, your guy is gone most likely.
Now with all that said, I dont want to see a flat cap cause thats not the point of this league. But I do think it would nice to see a vote on maybe just a 4 tiered salary cap system (maybe $3 or 4 apart) for 2021 and then revert back to our standard layout when we actually get REAL baseball back. Just m 2 cents.
Again, if the season is called after 14 days would we really use those standings to set the cap? I doubt it...
I’m hesitant to make 1 year rules, but open to what the league wants. Feel free to make some votes with the reasoning for sides if you would like to make a vote! Should be done soon though as the season is quickly approaching!

I understand.. but if you think about it.. baseball is making changes to their rules due to the shortened season too (shortend DL periods, full time NL DH) so it wouldnt be that far fetched.. and I really dont know if we 100% have to have this solved before we start as again, either way it doesnt go into effect till 2021.. cause I dont think anyone is purposely going to tank for less money regardless of the scale.

I put up a poll. Again if most of the league doesnt care, so be it.. but never hurts to see what they think. Again changes to rules in sports isnt exactly unheard of this year with COVID so why not explore minor 1 year things in fantasy too.

Noted but the fix for this should not be related to the salary cap but instead give those players a free year of service and/or allow them to be demoted without penalty regardless of limits. With the 60 player MLB pool this could impact most teams.

Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
