In the last few years we have tried to vote on rule changes to improve “good faith” but always have owners skirting the rules to gain an edge.
I will be adding a statement to 26 man MLB roster at all time “during the season. Season is defined by the starting roster deadline date defined in important dates. The season ends effectively the last day of regular season all roster moves have to be completed before the last regular game of season. No free agent can be added to a team after the start of final regular season game. All bids are null and void if they are not completed before start of the final regular season game.”

All bids are null and void if they are not completed before start of the final regular season game.” - not trying to be difficult, just getting clarity.
hypothetical example: I put a bid for Joe Schmoe $1/1 at 9am the day Before the last day. Pirates bids on Joe $1/2 at 3pm, Cubs bids on Joe $1/3 at 11pm, Marlins bids on Joe $1/4 at 10am next day.(first game starts at 2pm)
1. Is Joe unowned going into next season? 2. Does Marlins win the bid if it goes 24 hours after that? 3. Does Marlins win the bid at 2pm 4. Does something else happen?

If you are bidding on a player less than 24 hours why would that be a legitimate bid. It is stacking a player on your roster. Most free agents picked in the last 2 weeks are pretty much a useless bid. The impact on the season is very minimal and the intent is adding player. I would be for a rule once buyout deadline is reached only 1 year contract is available.

Lots of talk about nothing as i see it. 1) the hypothetical player as Kyle pointed out that is bid on in the waning day or days of the season will have zero impact in the big picture. 2) so what if he is now on next years roster. That’s just one more buyout or drop to take most likely. 3) why construct a rule for something as meaningless as this hypothetical player. Geesh….you guys are approaching this like a bunch of lawyers, lol. 4) if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…wise old saying. 5) leave it alone…I can just see a new manager trying to figure out what the hell this rule is all about. It’s laughable really.
Ryan (Cubs): Today is the last day to re-sign your restricted free agents! All players that are left unsigned will be dropped tomorrow and eligible for free agency

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Rockies (Jose): Is Yuki Matsui rostered?
Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
