New thought to reduce activity of IL/NA and problems of roster size. If we eliminate IL/NA designation on roster and create 40 man roster. Then nobody has an excuse to find and work around roster loopholes. I would propose reducing off season roster this year to the standard 26 man roster. When free agency starts increase roster to 40 for 2023. The following offseason nobody should be upset at other owners roster which would eliminate the 46+ man bloated roster from IL/NA spots.
Who cares what the offseason roster looks like when theres no games happening? I think what we have is fine, rosters have to be dealt with before spring training anyway

Yahoo doesnt allow 40 man rosters.. I think 30 is the max. I have another league that does a 40 man roster and its a disaster to track since so many of those guys are "free agents" in Yahoo -- makes Free Agency a mess with you having to check the spreadsheet for every player to see if they are owned and just not on a roster.
Best bet for bigger rosters is moving to Fantrax and paying for their premium leagues which I know people havent liked that idea in the past -- but makes life so much easier with prospects etc cause you can have MASSIVE rosters over there and so many more prospects are in the database. Plus can set guidelines for mandatory promotions for prospects, draft picking trading for years in advance

I like the idea of a 40 man roster. Using Fantrax as much as some members dislike it would make bidding on free agents and the draft a lot easier. We won’t have to check several spreads sheets to make our selections

As others have said this can't be done on Yahoo. The long term solution to any league of this season is to move to Fantrax - I know many don't like that interface - but functionally it is 100 times better than Yahoo.
I would just leave things as they are.
In my 30 team Fantrax league (50 player roster size) we don't use any spreadsheets to track prospects and contracts as everything including player contracts is tracked on your team page.

Fantrax would be the only solution. I’d be the first one to quit however. Just hate it. We have a unique concept here that works quite well. Change to Fantrax and become just another one of their leagues.

For me, I did one year of Fantrax, and it was bothersome to go to Yahoo and Fantrax. I forgot about Fantrax and my team didn't perform like it should have because of that. Easier for me and my multiple teams to stay at Yahoo.

Same as Brewers. It isn't that I hate Fantrax (though it has been years since I've had to use it) but I've always found Yahoo to be really a nice interface (as opposed to say ESPN - ugh) and I have other teams on Yahoo. So, despite its limitations in some areas, Yahoo is really a convenient and easy to use site in my opinion.

Red Sox (Kris): We still have a MAX 20 prospects, correct?
Feb 26, 2024 9:15:10 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.
Feb 26, 2024 11:56:08 GMT -5
Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now

Mar 12, 2024 16:15:04 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you can't bid on Yuki in free agency until he pitches an inning in the MLB. You could have drafted him in the MiLB draft, but players that haven't made their debut can't be nominated in Free Agency.

Mariners (Rook): I do believe Ronel Blanco free agent final bid of $3/3 by LAD is invalid and the player should be returned to free agency. That was LAD last transaction and it put his cap -0.25. We can’t go negative cap. What say you?

Ryan (Cubs): @mariners, correct. LAD's bid on Blanco put him $.25 over the cap so the bid is invalidated. I've messaged LAD and dropped Blanco from his roster
