Salary Cap Vote please select up to 2 options if we have more than 1/2 the league vote for one option that selection will win the vote. If 1/2 the league fails to come up with a clear selection we will have a run off vote for the top 2 options.

The Salary Caps need to be the same for each team. Baseball doesn't have a different cap for team the Astros don't get $175m cap and the Royals don't get $200m.
Having success and advancing in the postseason doesn't change a salary cap, but it does tend to increase the amount of money an owner is willing to spend.

It may seem a little counter-intuitive at first glance, but the sliding scale salary actually keeps the league competitive and minimizes the drive of tanking. Every team in the league is incentivized to move up even one spot in the rankings and they are rewarded for it. If the salary cap was even across the board, you’d see the bottom half if the league tanking in order to get better draft picks.

A little counter-intuitive, try very counter-intuitive. For all the talk of trying to make this league resemble the actual MLB there is a lot of support for keeping the salary cap system, apparently we only need to resemble the MLB when it doesn't benefit the lower ranking teams, but rather keep things so the rich just get richer in this league.

What about this league really resembles the actual MLB though? I think the ways it is different outnumber the ways it is the same 10:1. It’s a fantasy league and a damn good one I think.
Last year I had the choice of buying out older players that were solid for me in order to spend that money on younger players that may fit my future better, but I made a conscious decision to try to rise in the rankings and gain a few bucks in salary cap. Also, it promotes playing out the season since fantasy baseball is long and some leagues have a tendency to not only have tankers, but have inactive participants, which hurts the overall league. The $2 per spot is very fair for the value that it adds.

It's unnecessary for there to be a salary cap scale. I play to win not for a few bucks. Having an even salary cap allows all teams to have a chance a free agents not oh the team that won last year has more of an advantage this year to so they can repeat. This has been by far the most frustrating off season of this league. It's all because the teams in the top of the league just keep getting richer and richer and only want changes or non changes that benefit them and not the rest of the league.
If that was the case, there wouldn't be 13 votes to keep it the same. As someone who was in the bottom losing money 4/5 years (and only being positive this year while in 8th, so no great advantage), I have always been pro sliding salary due to giving an award to active and aggressive owners. Plus, money is hardly an issue in this league, as there are guys being resigned for $33.5 because there is such a limited free agent talent pool in the offseason.

What low end team in the bottom 6 or 7 is signing those 33m a year deals?? Those are the kind of contracts you can afford to do when you have 20-30 more to spend than other teams. Again just more proof that the system feeds these higher teams. Without it you aren't signing that deal and he hits FA where at least teams might have a chance at them. But instead the high end teams have 20+ spare cash to throw around and over pay for picks and resigning. To me that argument adds mOre fire to the disparity in salary.
This isn't gonna be a topic anyone convinces peoples to change their mind. The teams with the advantage aren't ever gonna want to give it up... why would they for league parity. Again we play to win and more salary betters their chances.
If you really want to get into the salary cap issue, why not have the cap the same for each team and then each year whatever you don't spend carries over to the next year. This rewards teams that manage their cap spending the best.
What if we did it in tiers? 1st - 160 2nd - 158 3rd - 156 4th - 154 5th - 150 6th-9th -148 10-13 - 146 14-17 - 144 17-20 - 142
This way there’s still incentive to move up, but the cap decrease isn’t a drastic
Because then I am going to tank if I stink for a better draft pick which is very valuable.
Actually no. Tanking is the worst possible strategy to win Dynasty leagues. I haven't checked but I bet most of the bottom feeders in this league are in a genuine struggle to compete but it's an up hill battle first because it's Roto and second because of the sliding cap. Actually the sliding cap works against the bottom teams in 2 ways, they lose money and the top teams gain - double hit.

I took a 14th ranked team to 6th place. I enjoyed the challenge and one big motivator was gaining up in standings to acquire more cap— basically cap was going to be used to make my roster even less $$ by buying out players if unable to trade.
I love this league because of the challenge of moving up - the more incentive to do so. I also like using knowledge to win players in free agency that are cheap and productive which fits into the manage salary cap and move up in standings. Trading for players that are cheap (Mike Yazstremski at $1) and productive to lessen salary cap burden. Finally, I like drafting guys that might be productive but aren’t on the Top 100 list (not that I don’t like marquee prospects) like Brandon Lowe.
I just hope everyone is finding it fun to strategize for the 2020 season and beyond. Hopefully, we’ll have some side bets to make things interesting this season - side bets are another area where a shrewd owner might be able to cash in on some future dollars.
Another way to capitalize on dollars is sell some prospects that have lost some gloss for fifty cents or a buck. In other words - even weaker teams have assets that could result in a buck or two more in salary relief now or next year. Ask yourselves, am I maximizing all of my assets to fit my plan?

And this says it all. People are happy with a system that keeps the lower teams down .ore than equality. I like the thrill of building a team as much as the next guy. But ad it's been stated this ain't football where the top draft pick turns you around in 1 or 2 years. Draft picks here takes at least a couple years to develop. You guys can save your breath nothing any of us say that want to see a change is gonna make a difference. This is a dying cause.
Let's focus on the other changes that the powers that be really want to see happen.

Not sure the martyr approach is warranted here when the option has 13 votes... Doesn’t really seem like ‘the man is keeping the majority down’ argument is quite apt. Now don’t get me wrong I like Bernie Sanders and socialism as much as the next guy, but keeping the rules as it’s been for 7 years is what I think has made this league so successful/active/unique.
Now having said that, I would be the first person to join a sister league with equal cap and similar rules, maybe even H2H. Seems like it would be a fun companion league :-)

Ryan (Cubs): Yes. 20 prospects is the MiLB max, you either need to drop a prospect or call someone up if you are over that limit.

Red Sox (Kris): I don’t, but I know that some do. So, to be clear, we can draft over the 20 limit as long as we cut down before the season starts?
Feb 29, 2024 23:45:26 GMT -5
Ryan (Cubs): Technically you should be dropping a player anytime a draft pick or trade takes you over the limit of 20. I must've missed it but Yankees needs to release one of his MiLB players, they are the only team over the limit right now
